On the 18th of April Grand Rapids was host to something called the “Chalk Flood.” Apparently there’s a college student mastermind that has come up with a lot of elaborate cool ideas for the city to sort of get together and do. In this one, thousands of people flocked to the city streets to find boxes of sidewalk chalk distributed around… and so… people started doing something wonderful… drawing! So of course this sounded like a great activity for our little man. See this image larger.
There was also some nice artwork to check out, of course, as anyone with an artistic bone in their body had free reign to draw what they wanted. See this image larger.
Overall I’d say it was a fun day, and based on this picture, I’d say Ian thought the same. (Slept really well that night too 🙂 ) See this image larger.

This shot is from April 14th — it turns out that if you put the camera on one of our counters and set the timer we can get a nice family shot of us on the steps… might have to do this more often! See this image larger.
Ian’s recent golf lessons with Grampa Dave and his former exposure with Grampa Ray, Grandma Sue, and a little bit of TV has him going a little golf-crazy these days. These shots were taken on the 15th. Here’s a nice chip shot. See this image larger.
Yup, that’s a ladle. You’d be surprised how very attached he is to that thing. He’s got good follow through sometimes — we’re still working on that “keep your eye on the ball” thing. See this image larger.
Here he’s doing better, note the shift in his weight toward the front leg. It’s incredible watching him emulate what he sees on TV. I thought he was pooping the other day near the ball, but it turned out he was visualizing his putt down the “green.” See this image larger.

Dad’s Group Wee Play
The next Monday, April 20th 2009, Ian and I went to a little place called Wee Play.
And play he did. See this image larger.
And play. See this image larger.

At first perhaps it was a little confusing… See this image larger.
… and while Ian held Mommy’s hand when it counted…

… this was also his big chance to run free for the day…
See this image larger.
…you might even say it was a common theme of our excursion.
