I know what you’re thinking… you’re thinking “D… you missed something. September and the start of October was a gigantic chunk of time and you maybe revealed 3 or 4 pictures. Dig something up… heck, fabricate something if you have to.” Well, don’t worry — I won’t resort to such measures. Concerned photographers have been supplying images to keep up with demand…
Let’s play catch – up!
September 27th, Mommy snapped this image of Ian and I as all three of us awaited the dumping of thousands of paper airplanes from a nearby roof as part of the Grand Rapids Artprize experience. It was pretty cool. See this image larger.
October 1st, Daddy had to work this particular Friday, and missed out on a lot of fun, judging from these pictures taken by the staff of Ian’s daycare! See this image larger.
Wait, I didn’t tell you what they did. Does this give you a clue? Klackle Orchard Field Trip! See this image larger.
When you look at this picture, you see moms and kids picking out pumpkins. I see moms picking kids from where they grow… the orange ones just aren’t ripe yet. 😉 See this image larger.
There’s a glow about him in this picture that I haven’t seen since his early babyhood. Must be the sugar! See this image larger.
And the eats didn’t stop there. In fact he apparently ate this entire apple without throwing out the core. See this image larger.
Maybe Jacob can’t read Ian’s body language like I can, but to me that says “My mom is sitting here.” Well that, and “Mmm, apple!” See this image larger.

So he got the costume from the former entry first, and then I ordered Ian this little set that has the “WhyWriter” as well as better fitting mask and cape. He skipped his nap but was still in his room, when it arrived, so I crawled up the steps and hit the sound button a couple times. The rest is in the video.
Click here to watch the video, which weighs in at 9MB, so is quite large.
One other quick note, that’s his “Diaper Genie” blocking the door. Had I known he had done that I probably would have waited until later to give him this. And yes, I did open it for him shortly after the end of the video.

Don’t know who that is? Well, relax, he’s from a PBS Kids show that teaches all kinds of important goodies about how to read, etc. Here’s a picture of him from the show.
I know, the mask is a little big. Luckily, Daddy went a little nuts and bought the gizmo that SuperWhy usually carries on his person for Ian to also carry with him. And THAT included a cape and mask that actually fit better. I have a hilarious video to share with you that shows when said gift was bestowed. Maybe I’ll save that for Sunday. See this image larger.
SuperWhy! is that same show where they ask the viewer to put their arm in so they can do a sort of team cheer. “SuperReaders, to the rescue!!!” See this image larger.
Can I get a closer crop, you ask? Photoshop, to the rescue!! That is one happy child, right there.
*Alright Ian, what do we say to our neighbors on Halloween when they give us an apple?* See this image larger.
You can tell he’s pretty much convinced that he has super powers at this point… See this image larger.
…which should really not surprise anybody — he’s had super speed since he learned to run. (This shot almost looks like he just landed from flying around the room, doesn’t it?) See this image larger.
I love the casualness of this shot: *Yeah, I’m a superhero, what’s up? Your name’s Lois Lane? Awesome. You like PB-J’s?* See this image larger.
We got a great reaction when we decided he should see how he looks! Can’t wait for Halloween now! See this image larger.

Halloween Costume Trial-Run
I am pleased as punch to finally be able to share these awesome photos from October 10th… Ladies and Gentlemen, Ian’s 2009 Halloween costume.
Who’s got the power, the power to read, who answers the call for friends in need? See this image larger.
