What’s Cookin?

Ian now has access to the kitchen. He’s causing a lot of headaches, but his boundaries should be expanded, we should always be challenging our reliance on what is convenient, and frankly he’s got to learn “no” sooner or later. We’ve had to make some modifications, of course, and will always have to keep an eye on him; but hey, that’s parenting for you. Some of the new fun includes: the trashcan, the buttons on the dishwasher, the knobs on the gas stove, the stove, the fridge, and the cat’s food. I admit readily to shutting him back out of the kitchen a few times, kind of giving up on the advancement, but Mama’s been patient with him and is helping me cope.

Ian continues to develop… he climbs on anything he can, will use anything you hand to him as a tool… (The recent “stand on wipes package to try to reach the screen front door handle” incident comes to mind) and you can tell there’s a lot more going on behind those eyes. Feelings get hurt, decisions get made and then ignored, things learned or seen previously are rekindled.

06/27/08 Daycare Report:

Ian had a great day! He had a blast playing in the water table outside this morning. He also helped decorate a card for Miss Amber.

Not sure if I told you we had a sandpiper nest under our tree… well, it is gone, and three little babies have been hopping around the yard; they’re adorable. Most of the family thinks they’re cute, aside from Seth who refers to them as “the three piece McNugget meal.”

Melissa snapped this shot while Ian was dozing away. He’s still our little baby even though he’s a big ol’ toddler. See this image larger.
