So by now, Ian’s on his third swimming class (May 12th) and he was still doing amazing. Sadly this was not to last, but we’ll get to that later.
Although I had my new iPad for about 4 or 5 days by the time May 13th showed up, I hadn’t really done much with the camera yet. And why would I, I’d heard that the cameras were mostly crap. And the people that said that were totally right. The camera itself does not take very good video. But. The viewfinder is as big as my whole head. Doesn’t sound like much of an advantage vs. excellent resolution, but when one of the cameras faces your kids, and your kids can see themselves in the viewfinder… well… suffice to say a great deal of fun has been had, and that while I do look forward to a better camera on whatever iPad comes next, let’s not worry about that at the moment, and just start off with the video.

Nina grabbing a book. Her current favorite is “How Does a Dinosaur Eat All His Food.” She really enjoys it when we do a visual gesture on a page, and when she hands me a book, excitedly begins doing the gesture before we get to the page. I mentioned a duck book where she tilted her head to “sleep.” This is the same thing except she does sign-language for “please.” She’ll rub her belly for that. As of this writing (June 13th!) she added “thank you,” which looks similar to blowing a kiss. See this image larger.

Woke up on this day (May 10th) to find Ian in Nina’s room, the two of them having a grand ol’ time. It is a good way to wake up. See this image larger.

Is it possible that a visit to an indoor playground might warrant its very own blog entry? The answer is heck yes. HECK. YES. May 6th, Ian’s class went to a place called Java Gym for the morning and parents were invited. I went and took a couple pics while I was there.
Java Gym is much like our old favorite Playworld, but Java Gym is staffed by no less than 10 people at a time, as opposed to 1. Located next to Qdoba and a popular mall, as opposed to Playworld’s miserable surroundings. It is also the only indoor play area that I’ve heard of that allows parents to get in there with their kids and chase them all over the place. I quickly made a few small friends, and all of us had a great time. I give it my highest recommendation. And wait until you see our second visit, coming up in a few entries.
This is what it looks like from the back corner… there’s a nice eating area with smooth floors (bad idea there considering the place has a no-shoes policy.) There’s somebody at the front desk making sure kids don’t wander out alone, and wrist bands to help with identification. See this image larger.
