Fawn Island 2008 Trip II, Part II

Continuing our island adventure, here is the second and final part!

The squirting hippo toy welcomes us to a new entry and waves good morning to Ian on August third, 2008. See this image larger.

Here Ian has completely figured out how to open the screen doors of the cottage… luckily only from the outside… for now. Can’t keep a good man down, or a smart kid in. See this image larger.

A game of peek-a-boo with Mama in the early morning dew. Might want to choose a wider tree, kiddo! See this image larger.

“Somebody said and/or spelled boatride!!!” See this image larger.

Off these three went for another tour. Melissa and I either slept or looked at each other like “what do we do again when we’re not being parents?” See this image larger.

If a cottage or location could be alive enough to sigh in happiness when it sees a familiar sight, I would guess seeing Chris fish off the corner of the island like old times would do it. See this image larger.

I tested out the camera on my iPhone. So far not very good quality, but this is a good moment none-the-less. Ladies in the house! Gp Dave and Gm Marcia had a bit of a gathering over at the cottage and Ian never made so much as a peep! See this image larger.

Also at the gathering… Do you really have to wonder where Ian gets his sense of humor? Certainly quite a bit from the Johnson side, but no shortage from the Chapman side either! Well this is as good a place as any to say g’night! We had a great trip up at the island and returned home safe and sound on the fourth of August! Thanks everybody! See this image larger.

Fawn Island 2008 Trip II, Part I

At long last, an update…. wow I’ve got a lot to tell you. Sorry about the delay! I was also extremely surprised to see the blog completely missing last night! Thanks to my webhost for fixing that; on the other hand they probably caused it, too.

I also want to thank everybody that sent kind words about updating the blog and our “tough times” post.

Anyway, hi all!

We had a great time up at Fawn Island several weeks ago, with Grandpa Dave, Grandma Marcia, Aunt Anne Marie and Uncle Chris! Didn’t get too many shots to tell the tale, but here we go!

It was the second of August when this shot was taken — Ian gets up close and personal with Jim and Fran’s dog — whose name escapes me, but as far as Ian is concerned “WoofWoof” will do. See this image larger.

Uncle Chris enjoys the cold, cold water (his face looked a little different with every wave… hehe) while Aunt Annie soaks up some rays! See this image larger.

“NOM NOM NOM… hmmm?” See this image larger.

Gm Marcia kindly takes Ian for a walk around the yard, giving Mama a respite with which a much-needed nap was taken. Ian takes a toy boat for a drag! See this image larger.

Couldn’t help myself here, this was just too cute, from too many angles. See this image larger.

Ok, just this one more. See this image larger.

This is either “What, you’ve never seen a kid drag a boat across the grass before?” or more than likely “Dada, please put down the camera.” See this image larger.

We needed to keep Ian occupied a bit longer, so we grabbed some cushions and made them into really large Lincoln Logs. Here’s a secret fort! See this image larger.

On top of the pile! See this image larger.

Hidden tunnel! See this image larger.

Gp Dave and Uncle Chris return from an outing, while Gm Marcia and Ian welcome them back… sadly this is the closest I got to a group picture. We need to work on staging shots whenever family gets together!!! See this image larger.

That same evening, Gp Dave and Ian went on another boat cruise! Here Ian spots a little boy and waves frantically. See this image larger.

A quick smile of gratitude from both! More coming in Part II, coming very soon! See this image larger.

Tough Times

Hey, just writing to let everybody know that while the family in general is doing well, I’ve hit a bit of a financial snag or two. It isn’t a big deal yet — suffice to say Ian blog updates will not be happening as regularly because I’m going to have to start working additional hours at night. Sorry!

-D

EDIT – I should have been more careful in my wording, above. We’re doing fine, I just don’t have spare time like I did previously. Our money situation is good — I know I said “financial snag,” but that was in reference to money that is no longer going to be coming in from that source; not our overall money situation. Money will still come in, but from different sources, come September. No worries, folks!
