Inktober 2019, Part I – probably should have gone to art school

A client that chose a poetic name under which to sell candles deserved a smart logo.

For over 11 years, I worked on Flash-based interactive presentations for challenged junior high and high school students to aid in their writing. My projects were, at first, simply designing navigational elements/ UX, but over time I became more involved. I designed and implemented a program that would populate the screen with UI elements, move forward based on soundclips imported into the projector, looking for the next soundclip before moving on to the next “row” of subject matter. On the last row, it went to the next lesson. I also built a quizzing system that handled multiple-choice, identifying individual words and labeling them as subject/verb/etc. I wrote a story to go with the latest presentations, to get the students more interested; a malfunctioning onboard AI requires strict adherence to proper English before a written distress call will be sent. We needed some pictures to go along with our story about a stranded space cargo-ship pilot. This image is from a pivotal moment in the plot, wherein your ship is damaged.

I like to draw. Sometimes friendly happy things, sometimes weird dudes blowing up skeletons with rays of light from the holy symbol on their shield. Let's move on.
